Residents share thoughts on new pavilion and changes to the Green

by Chloe Leng

At the second concert of the year, when the New Barleycorn group performed, audience members were asked what they thought of the new pavilion and the sidewalk that winds around the Green.

Many community members spoke favorably of the additions and are eager to see what the village adds next.

Residents John Williams and Kirsten Williams expressed their appreciation for the Green’s newest additions and said they had “no complaints.” They see themselves returning to the Green often for community events.

Other audience members, like Michael Poldruhi and Tasha Jo Poldruhi, said they wondered about the future of the Green and about what community members could do on the Green when there are no concerts. They suggested adding picnic tables in and around the pavilion for residents to use when there are no community events.

Some people suggested that there is room for improvement. Resident Stacy Sadar pointed out the limited parking available next to the Green. She predicted that once the brewing company opens, parking for the Green could be hard to come by, especially on busy weekends. Sadar parked across the street at the post office because the parking lot surrounding the Green was full.

Sadar noted that food trucks were using parking spots nearest the Green. She recommends moving the food trucks to Grant Street, east of the pavilion.

Although the food trucks take parking spaces, most of the people interviewed want them at the events. Residents Sher Ellsworth and Todd Ellsworth noted that it would be great to see even more food and drink options in the future. They also suggested adding public restrooms or allowing residents to use the bathroom in the nearby Richfield Fellowship Hall. ∞
