Sept. 28, Oct. 12: Rain barrel workshops

Posted: September 19, 2017

The Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is hosting rain barrel workshops this fall. Information is listed at cuyahogaswcd.org (click on events). Rain barrels are $60 and include a downspout diverter. Registration is required. For more information, contact Amy Roskilly at 213-524-6580, ext. 1005, or aroskilly@cuyahogaswcd.org.

Workshops will take place Sept. 28, in Highland Hills from 6-7:30 p.m and Oct. 12 in Seven Hills from 6-7:30 p.m.

A rain barrel is used to collect and store rainwater that would otherwise be lost to runoff and likely diverted to a storm drain. Collected water can be used to water lawns and gardens. Rainwater is a free source of water that is better for plants because it is free of chlorine and fluoride. Barrels can be used to receive a reduction in the stormwater utility fee being charged by the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
