Oct. 7, 8, 14, 15: Hale Harvest Festival and 5K

Posted: September 28, 2017

The arrival of fall creates spectacular scenery at Hale Farm & Village. The historic property’s annual Harvest Festival will be held Oct. 7, 8, 14 and 15 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The family-friendly event will offer seasonal experiences, such as cider press and apple butter churning demonstrations, pumpkin painting, and a meeting with Johnny Appleseed. Artisans at Hale Farm will create handcrafted items and more than 30 historic buildings will be open to tour.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 3-12 and free for children under 2 and Western Reserve Historical Society members. The Hale Café will serve seasonal favorites, such as pumpkin pie and hot apple cider. The MarketPlace will sell hand-blown glass pumpkins, Ohio-made apple and pumpkin butter and other locally made items.

Hale Farm also hosts the Hale Harvest 5K run the morning of Oct. 7. The three-mile loop course invites runners and walkers to experience the natural beauty of Hale Farm as they run along nature trails, past historic houses, through the Hale sugar bush, in farmyards and across creeks.

The top three overall finishers and the top male and female finishers per category will receive handcrafted pieces from Hale Farm’s artisans. The registration fee is age-based and includes free admission to the Harvest Festival on race day. Register online at
