Dec. 9: Applying for benefits

Posted: November 17, 2017

A Cleveland Food Bank counselor will be at the old Blossom School building, 4450 Oakes Rd., at the rear of Brecksville’s Blossom Hill property, on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9-11 a.m.

The food bank has a benefit outreach program to help with the application process for more than 20 programs, including SNAP (food stamps), prescription benefits, child care vouchers, WIC and medical coverage. A team of benefit counselors assists people through the process over the phone.

Those not currently receiving SNAP are encouraged to call the food bank to determine eligibility, find resources in the community and apply for assistance. Eligibility is based on monthly income and expenses, including medical, rent and utilities. For more information, contact the Cleveland Food Bank at 216-738-2067 between 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
