April 18: College survival skills

Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, in partnership with Ohio State University, Baldwin Wallace University, University of Akron, Kent State University and Cleveland State University, will host a college survival skills seminar on Wednesday, April 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The free event will teach parents and students about the reality of college life and how to make a successful transition from high school to college. Participants will hear from a panel of experts and participate in college reality simulations led by college students who will discuss what they wish they knew before their first year of college.

A dean of students will speak about the differences between high school and college, a campus police officer will discuss campus safety and the legal aspects of being 18, a professor will talk about academic expectations, and a financial planner will discuss handling personal finances.
