Technical Services Director David Snyderburn showed the sign to city council at its Aug. 14 meeting, saying, “It’s been a long time coming.”

He said there had been a sign at Hemlock Cemetery, located across from city hall, but when fencing was updated, the sign was never replaced. Snyderburn thanked the historical society for getting the new plaque.

Residents and those who work in the city have enjoyed Food Truck Friday at historic hall once a month all summer. In August, an art show was held in conjunction with the event. Sept. 7 was to be the last day of the season, featuring the Simply Southern Sides food truck and the Porsche auto club.
