Bike/Hike Aboard season opens on scenic railroad
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad kicked off its 2019 season of Bike/Hike Aboard on May 3. The program, presented by the Cleveland Clinic and Century Cycles, allows visitors to bring their bikes aboard the train for a day of exploring Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Cyclists can ride their bikes along the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail and take the train back for $5 per person (ages 3 and older). The ticket applies to a one-way trip once per day and also applies to hikers.
Bike Aboard will run through Oct. 27 and is available during the regular train schedule on Friday through Sunday in May and Wednesday through Sunday beginning in June. The train can be flagged down at any boarding station by waving both arms overhead. Passengers pay the $5 fare upon boarding.
For frequent riders, an annual Bike Aboard pass is available for $35 per person and includes unlimited one-way rides. The pass does not apply to hikers or kayakers. Visit cvsr.org/bike-aboard-annual-pass to purchase.
Boston Mills Station will be out of service for the 2019 season due to construction of the new CVNP visitors center. Cyclists can board and deboard north at Brecksville Station or south at Peninsula Depot.
Bike/Hike Aboard will run on certain holidays, including Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day. The program will run on a shortened schedule on Sept. 20 and 27 and will not run Sept. 21-22 or 28-29 due to Steam in the Valley.
