‘Fill the Bus’ to help feed the Nordonia Hills, Twinsburg communities

The Nordonia Hills High School PTSA, along with Building Boosters of Nordonia Hills Inc., is hosting the fifth annual “Fill the Bus” Campaign throughout October to benefit The Emergency Assistance Center. The groups are asking the community to help “fill a bus” with non-perishable food items.

The Twinsburg City School District has agreed to join in again and will work to fill a school bus with donations from their students, schools and community.

Collection bins will be placed at schools in both districts in October.

Drop-off sites in Nordonia Hills include: Once Upon a Child in Sagamore Hills, The Nordonia Hills Rotary, the Nordonia Hills branch of Akron Summit County Library, and Drayer Physical Therapy, The Goddard School and Kindercare in Macedonia. In Twinsburg, drop off food at the Twinsburg Public Library, The Goddard School and Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Volunteers, including Nordonia Tiger Den 216 and Building Boosters of Nordonia Hills Inc., will collect donations from Nordonia schools and drop-off locations. Twinsburg resident Dani Bucknell will collect donations from Twinsburg schools and drop-off locations. Food will be delivered directly to TEAC for labeling and weighing.

The collection for Nordonia will conclude at the Nordonia High School home football game on Oct. 25. Twinsburg’s will end at the Twinsburg High School home game on Nov. 1. Those attending these games are asked to bring non-perishable food item. A bus will be at the games to collect donations.

In 2018, “Fill the Bus” collected 19,600 pounds of non-perishable food items from both communities. The goal this year is to collect over 20,000 pounds. For more information, contact Karen Byers at nhbuildingboosters@roadrunner.com.
