Broadview Heights still deciding when to open Community Center

The city of Broadview Heights has yet to determine a reopening date for its parks and recreation department within the Leo H. Bender Community Center.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine gave fitness centers the go-ahead to reopen on May 26. The city said it is reviewing new guidelines before reopening.

The following statement appeared in Mayor Sam Alai’s May 15 community newsletter:

“We are aware that the governor has set specific dates that certain facilities and programming CAN open/resume. Along with these dates come industry specific guidelines that we must be able to adhere to. We are currently reviewing all of the newly established guidelines to determine if/when we can operate the various Parks & Recreation facilities and programs safely and in accordance with the established guidelines.”
