Independence hires new high school principal

June 4 school board meeting

The Independence School board hired James (Jamie) Hogue as the next principal of Independence High School, effective Aug. 1.  He replaces Bill McGuinness, who is returning to the classroom as a middle and high school teacher.

Hogue has been principal of Streetsboro High School since 2014.  Prior to that, he was the assistant principal.  He began his career in education as an English teacher.  He received his Bachelor of Science, English Language and Literature/Letters from John Carroll University.  He received his Master of Arts in Education from Kent State University.

“Jamie stood out through our principal search process,” said Superintendent Ben Hegedish.  “We dug deep, talked with current and former employers and even students who have attended the school he has led. Jamie is a smart, articulate, and dedicated educational leader.  He cares about kids and will be our next champion for our students at IHS.”

Hogue lives in Twinsburg with wife, Jennifer, and has three children: Adam, Nolan, and Grace.   “I am very excited to join the team at Independence Local Schools,” Hogue said. “I will give my best to support all students, staff and parents at IHS.”
