The Heights hosts antique car show for residents

For the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March, residents of The Heights Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Broadview Heights gathered together outside for an antique car show and parade on Sept. 20.

More than 40 classic vehicles arrived at The Heights’ parking lot and drove past the socially-distanced residents sitting outside on the sunny afternoon.

“The car show brought back great memories for our residents,” said The Heights administrator Nathan Hochstadter.  “Both residents and our healthcare staff noted how they owned cars like these early on, or had friends or relatives who did.  The time and care these vehicle owners spent to rebuild these historical automobiles is incredible.”

Due to the pandemic, this was the first outdoor event at The Heights in months that all residents could collectively attend.  For safety, residents were carefully positioned with social distancing.

“It was very uplifting to again be able to hold an outdoor activity in which all of our residents could participate,” Hochstadter said.  “We constantly monitor the health of our residents, and by currently having no cases of COVID-19 on site, we were able to bring this car parade past our front doors.”   Drivers who participated in the car parade, organized by The Heights and classic car event producer Frank LaManna Presents, received raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes.
