Mayor nominates Korinek as new police chief
Following the retirement of Police Chief Bill Goodrich, Stanton A. “Stan” Korinek has been named the city’s ninth police chief.
Korinek was administered the oath of office by Mayor Jerry Hruby at the Brecksville City Council meeting on May 4.
Korinek joined the force on Aug. 23, 1993 when he was appointed a patrolman. On Oct. 9, 2011 he was promoted to Sergeant and then Lieutenant on June 12, 2016.
“We congratulate Stan for this milestone in his law enforcement career. He has served this city well and as mayor-safety director, I look forward to working with him in this new capacity,” Hruby said. “We all wish him the very best. He will continue to serve the city with a high degree of professionalism and efficiency.”
Korinek’s family includes wife, Erin, son Kori, who is a Brecksville police officer, and daughters Morgan, Jordan and Sydney.
When asked about his objectives for the department, Korinek said his primary goal as police chief will be to deliver the best law enforcement services possible for the city of Brecksville.
“This will involve learning from our past, working hard in the present, and casting vision for the future toward accomplishing our goal,” he said.
Goodrich also offered praise for his colleague.
“Stan Korinek is an experienced, fair and dedicated police officer,” Goodrich said. “He will be committed to providing the citizens of Brecksville the best possible police service. The future of the department is bright.”
Looking back on his own tenure, Goodrich said it has been an honor to serve the city for more than 32 years and to spend the last 6 as chief. He said he will be forever grateful for the support given to him and the department by Hruby, city council and “the residents of this wonderful community.” ∞
