Hinckley Women’s Club elects officers, prepares for autumn

Hinckley Women’s Club is making plans for this fall and those interested in joining are welcome to attend the welcome meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Bronger’s Cabin.

Each monthly meeting includes some type of speaker or entertainment and the club holds additional social events throughout the year. The club wrapped up the year by hosting its annual membership banquet announcing a new slate of officers.

The club continues its service as Hinckley Greeters, presenting new homeowners with a welcome packet, including a box of freshly baked cookies.

The club receives a list of new homeowners from the Medina County Auditor’s Office each month. From that list, the greeters deliver an announcement tag to the new home which says a welcoming package will be presented in person or left at their door the following day. The welcome kit includes cards from various businesses as well as information about the township – all delivered in pizza boxes compliments of Fosters Tavern.

Last month’s greeters’ team included club president Debbie Moss, longtime resident Kim Young and Hinckley Chamber of Commerce member Pam Nyman.

The annual membership banquet took place May 21 at Olesia’s Tavern of Richfield and members enjoyed a wonderful meal.  After dinner, the club installed new officers. Debbie Moss was re-elected for a second term as president; Jaqueline Merker was elected first vice president membership; Lauren Alterman was named second vice president fund raising; Chris Studor was named secretary and Gayle Staron was elected treasurer.

The club gave thanks to Joann Pollizzi for her past service as secretary, and to Natasha Kalas for serving as treasurer.

The next event HWC will participate in will be the Community Garage Sale and HWC will be holding a book sale with all books being $1. The book sale will be held at the home of club president Debbie Moss, 63 Salem Court, (her house will be on the Community Garage Sale map), Sept 9-11, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. All profits will go toward general operating expenses, as well as the club’s scholarship fund.

All are invited to attend the welcome-back meeting Sept. 15 at Bronger’s Cabin. This will be an opportunity to find out what the club is all about, meet new people and enjoy some yummy treats.

The HWC is planning to hold a candidates night to give residents an opportunity to hear the platforms of candidates running for the two township trustee positions up for election this year, as well as board of education positions and any county issues that may be on the November ballot. Candidates’ night will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22, 7 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Also scheduled for next year is the annual December holiday party and spring Easter egg hunt. ∞
