Fifth-grade Hudson basketball team wins two championships

The fifth-grade Hudson Blue travel basketball team last weekend won two league championships. The team has been competing in the Ohio Xtreme National League since November. Games are played at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy. Teams were from Cloverleaf, Coventry, Cuyahoga Falls, Field, Green, Kent, Mogadore, Ravenna, Stow and Hudson. Hudson Blue had an overall record of 12-1. On Sunday Jan. 30, Hudson blue defeated Green to take home the championship.

The team also competed in the Big Leaf A League, which started in November as well. Games were played at Christ Community Chapel, Force Sports Eastlake, Spire Institute, Hiram College and Cleveland Heights Community Center. In the A league were teams consisting of Garfield Heights, Kenston, Willoughby, Bedford, Perry, Mayfield, Shaker Heights, Riverside, Chagrin Falls, East Cleveland, Hawken, Euclid, Solon and Hudson. Hudson Blue had an overall record of 8-2. On Sunday, Jan. 30, Hudson Blue defeated Perry 29-19 to bring home the championship title.

Hudson Blue will be finishing out the season by playing in four tournaments (Green, Hudson, Cloverleaf and Lake) during February. The teams overall record to date is 26-4. ∞
