Surrounded by colleagues, friends and family, Dave Manley was honored as 2024 Hinckley Citizen of the Year at the May 2 Hinckley Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Manley was featured in the May edition of the Hinckley Record outlining his numerous contributions to the betterment of Hinckley Township.
Chamber Vice-President Melissa Augustine outlined Manley’s many contributions to the community, noting that he is a member of the Hinckley Historical Society and current president of the organization. He also served as a member of the township Zoning Board of Appeals for 20 years; is an active member of Our Lady of Grace Church, serving on the parish council and as past fiscal officer; a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Irish Catholic Organization, which is active with Chamber Halloween and Christmas celebrations; and a longtime volunteer at the Chamber-sponsored Buzzard Day.
Manley’s most significant role moving forward will be helping with the township’s bicentennial celebration in 2025.
Manley, and his wife, Ruth Ann, raised seven children in Hinckley.
Augustine presented Manley with a plaque as well as a framed photo that, according to tradition, will be on display in the meeting room of town hall for the coming year. ∞
