Mazur to retire from Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad

After seven years of service, Joe Mazur, president and CEO of Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, will retire, effective Sept. 30. Throughout his time at CVSR, Mazur has navigated the organization through a series of challenges, including the global pandemic and three years of track erosion issues that suspended, and then modified train operations.

Mazur also spearheaded the introduction of several new experiences for visitors, including the popular Dinner and Events Train, The North Pole Adventure and Family Fun Loop activities.

One of Mazur’s most significant accomplishments during his tenure at CVSR was the successful execution of the organization’s $4 million capital campaign, which brought the California Zephyr Vista Domes along with many passenger car upgrades.

Reflecting on his time at CVSR, Mazur said, “I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and I am confident that CVSR will continue to thrive in the years ahead.”

The board of trustees will begin a search for Mazur’s successor, with plans to appoint new leadership in the coming months. ∞
