Summer Concert Series kicks off in earnest

Hundreds of area residents gathered at the city amphitheater the evening of June 7 as Broadview Heights launched its annual summer concert series, Nights in the Heights Concert & Cruise-in, showcasing the traditional and country rock sounds of Country Honk.
The free event featured a cruise-in sponsored by Next Level Auto Detailing with more than 30 classic vehicles, muscle cars and hot rods on display in an adjacent parking lot. A Cruise-in raffle was held during the event with sales benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Food and beverages were available for purchase from Bo’s Smokey Sticks, Just us Doggs, Feeling Good Ice Cream. The city also sold a variety of beverages including hard seltzer, beer, wine and water.
A number of bands whose performances were rained out last summer are scheduled to take the stage this year, including Country Honk.
“It’s a thrill for us to be here tonight,“ Country Honk lead singer/bass player Thomas Prebish said. “Last year we got rained out, and it was a little disappointing. But tonight, we see blue skies and sunshine, so we’re all good with that. It’s a really great event, including the Cruise-in, and we’re happy to be back in Broadview Heights.”
Other acts scheduled for the 2024 Summer Concert Series include the Barabara Knight Quinet (June 9), JJ Vicars & The Desiatos (June 27), California Music Club & Scott Sopota (Aug. 2), Jack Fords (Aug. 22), Tom Evanchuk (Aug. 24) and Custard Pie (Sept. 6).
