Friday Parade
There is nothing like a parade to get a party started. Community Weekend will be ushered in with a parade from Town Hall to Richfield Woods Park on Aug. 9. All are invited to be in the parade. Simply show up at Town Hall by 6 p.m.
Parade participants and spectators are invite to enjoy burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks at the park, while listening to the music of Swizzlesticks.
Saturday Steak Fry
As the tent is set up for Sunday’s Community Day, Sons of AMVETS and the Meridian Sun Lodge will serve a steak fry on Saturday, Aug. 10. Dinner will be served from 4-8 p.m. Tickets for the steak and baked potato dinner are $20 if purchased in advance at Village Auto Body, Exit 11 or Richfield Auto Center. If purchased the day of the event, the price is $22. The children’s menu features a hamburger and costs $5. Tickets are limited and advance purchase is recommended.
Community Day
The 2024 Richfield Community Day will have all the fun activities, entertainment, great food, inflatables, trackless train rides, Euclid Beach Rocket Car, beverages and non-profit booths as usual.
Come and tap your feet or dance to the lively music of this year’s bands: Richfield Circus, Roadhouse Band and Long Time Gone.
The Pie Contest, with two categories, fruit and other, will be held on the dance floor at 3:30 pm. with two age groups – adult and under 15 years old. Cream pies may not be entered. All bakers must be present with their pies.
Bring your best frog, or borrow one from Kiwanis, for the annual Frog Jump contest. Sign up starts at 1 pm. in the lower pavilion.
Stop and see the BHA Riding Academy and catch a ride in their horse-drawn carriage ride. For Keeps will teach passers by all about marbles.
Kids can participate in the “Make it and Take it” crafts from the Montrose Lowes.
Bath-Richfield Kiwanis, the sponsoring organization, has added fun activities for every age group this year, including inflatables. Neo Bubble Soccer offers a way to roll around in inflatable balls and play soccer with friends.
Talented face painters from Making Faces are bringing their efforts for the first time. For those who prefer to take home a fun memory, have a photo taken at the Photo Booth, either alone or with a family or friend group.
Tickets for the inflatables, the games and the Euclid Beach Rocket Car will be sold at the ticket tent, near the path by the small gazebo. Singular tickets and wristbands will be sold for the inflatables, rock wall and bungie jump to provide unlimited use all day.
This year, Kiwanis is using the “square” for those who don’t carry cash.
Da Dawg House, Judy’s Concessions, Bossie’s Best Ice Cream and grilled corn, donated by Luther Farms, with the addition of Mexican corn, will offer great food choices. RaK’s BBQ is a new addition. Satisfy your sweet tooth with some cotton candy from Sweet Swirls.
Enjoy a refreshing beverage at the Sons of Amvets tent and sign up there to play horseshoes. The concessions will remain open until the fireworks.
Stop by the raffle tent and see the many prizes including the Grand Prizes. In addition, Kiwanis is raffling an electric bike with only 200 tickets to be sold.
Richfield Community Day is a great way to visit with current and past neighbors, meet new friends and experience what Richfield is all about. The party starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, with fireworks giving an encore at dark.
Bath Richfield Kiwanis wishes to thank all the business donors and Richfield Village and Richfield Township who make this fun event happen. ∞
