Trustees enact food truck regulations

July 30 special township trustees meeting

A new section regarding food truck regulations was added to the Sagamore Hills Township zoning resolution.

The Sagamore Zoning Commission crafted the language for the regulations, and trustees approved them after making adjustments.

Food trucks are now permitted in all areas of the township. They cannot park on the street overnight. Police and fire must be notified before a food truck event. No sales are permitted after 9 p.m.

On a residential lot, a food truck can only serve private parties for property owners and their guests. A truck cannot sell to the public at large from the location.

In a planned unit development district, or a cluster of residential housing (Greenwood Village, Eaton Estates), a food truck can also only serve private parties for residents of the area and their guests.

There are additional requirements for food trucks in a commercial district. The property owner and food truck applicant must send prior written permission of the truck event to the township zoning inspector. A truck must have zoning registration with required documents prior to the event.

Trustee John Zaccardelli said only trucks serving commercial districts must be registered but there is no fee. ∞
