Bath Community Park sees upgrades

Aug. 19 township trustees meeting

Bath Community Park will see some upgrades just in time for football season. The township is purchasing a replacement scoreboard for the park from Nevco for $5,354. CARE Construction will install the new scoreboard and make external repairs on the football concession stand for $11,000.

Service Director and Interim Parks Director Caine Collins said the scoreboard will be in the same place and have a new support system to ensure the new board is secure. The concession stand has rotted wood on the trim and siding of the building, which will be replaced, according to Collins.

Tax levy

Trustees accepted the tax levies determined by the Summit County Budget Commission. These levies include inside and outside millage that fund township services like police, fire, roads and bridges, parks and the general fund.

The township’s general fund is an example of inside millage, which is not up for resident vote. Three funds listed in the budget commission’s tax levy certification have outside millage: two for roads and bridges and one for parks. These levies are voted on. The road and bridge funds will collect through 2027, and the parks will collect through 2029.

The total millage for residential and agricultural properties for 2025 is 13.2 mills.

AED placement

Trustee Sean Gaffney reported at the last trustee meeting that a member of the public said an automatic external defibrillator was needed at the pickleball courts in Bath Community Park. Gaffney said the person “made a good point” about having an AED near an active part of the park and the township will purchase one for that area.

He also noted that there are AED units in township vehicles, one at Bath Baseball Park and one at the football field in Bath Community Park. ∞
