Class of 2020 takes top honors in Hornet Dash

Taking the top honors in this year’s Highland Foundation Hornet Dash was the graduating class of 2020, which was also the most represented year to participate in the event, said Theresa Wright, director of the Highland Foundation.

 Wright said she was pleased to announce that more than 300 runners participated in the annual dash, held June 9. This was the highest number of participants to date.

The funds raised go to five annual scholarships in the names of Alyssa and Justin Haun, Mike Kudia, William Kubinski, Max Muzyzcha and Highland Foundation Alumni. Scholarship winners are posted on the organization’s Facebook page.

“I would like to recognize the many teachers who took the time to write personal recommendation letters for some scholarship applicants,” said Wright. “This takes a lot of work and makes a difference.”

Wright said the Highland Foundation has appointed three new trustees: Erik Fredmonsky, Chuck Grimm and Bill Reeder. There foundation has 19 trustees in total, including two permanent and 17 at-large representatives.

The date has been set for the foundation’s annual Great Gifts Dinner. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, 6-11 p.m. , Weymouth Country Club. The theme is “Platinum” marking the 25th year of the Highland Foundation.

The October Night Out will take place at the Thursday, Oct. 10 home football game. The theme will be announced in the near future. ∞
