The Pan-American Master Games was the largest international gathering to take place in Cleveland’s history, with more than 4,000 athletes from 79 countries participating in the week-long event.

The trio, all of whom are over the age of 55, have been playing with and against each other in the sport of baseball for many years throughout the Cleveland and Akron areas. They have dubbed themselves “The Buckeyes,” and were managed by Mike Morel.

The final medal game was played at Cleveland’s historical League Park.

Brecksville resident Emily Mau was one of 80 students at Baldwin Wallace University to be named to the 2024 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Team. In order to be selected as Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA. A student-athlete may only receive Academic All-OAC on three occasions.

Mau is also one of five Baldwin Wallace University softball student-athletes to be named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators Division III Academic All-District Team. This is the second time she has earned the honor.

In order to qualify for Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically and athletically, must carry a 3.50 or higher grade point average and must have competed in 90 percent of the institution’s games played or must start in at least 66% of the institution’s games. Pitchers must have made 17 appearances or pitched in 25 innings.

Mau carries a 3.980 grade point average in early childhood education. This past season, she appeared in 40 games with 39 starts. She batted .324 (45-of-139) with 28 runs scored, 15 runs batted-in (RBIs), team-leading 14 stolen bases, three doubles, two walks and one triple. In the field, she recorded 72 putouts and 42 assists for a .958 fielding percentage. For her career, Mau appeared in 149 games and had a .357 batting average (182-of-510). She tallied 112 runs scored, 65 stolen bases, 56 RBIs, 22 walks, 17 doubles, three triples and three home runs. Mau finished with a career fielding percentage of .913 with 239 putouts and 181 assists.

Off the field, she was a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree, Dean’s List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Dayton C. Miller honoraries.

Zach Neubeck also was inducted into the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society in 2024. The honor is bestowed upon less than 4% of Baldwin Wallace University’s undergraduate student body. Neubeck is a graduate of Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School, who is now majoring in multi-age education and German.

Members of the honor society are selected for consistently maintaining superior academic work and students inducted into the society each year represent the top 100 students by grade point average who have earned a minimum of 70 semester hours with at least 32 semester hours at BW.
