BBH Pride fosters acceptance
To the Editor:
Our family has participated in many wonderful workshops and the two Pride festivals put on by BBH Pride. The second Pride Fest, with nearly 2,000 people, was a fun and wonderful event the community really enjoyed.
Events like Pride festivals and workshops are powerful tools for fostering understanding and acceptance. The positive impact of these efforts is evident in the enthusiasm and participation of the community and it makes me proud to know how welcoming this community can be. I have talked with so many people who share with me how happy they are that this group is available, safe, wonderful and growing.
It is disheartening to see false and hateful statements about the organization in this news source. This group is doing valuable work and deserves recognition and support from city officials. Misinformation and negativity can be particularly harmful, especially when they undermine efforts to create welcoming and safe neighborhoods. It’s important to counteract this negativity with facts. BBH Pride is a great group, accepting of everyone regardless of their identity and continuing to make safe places in our community. Claims about inappropriate discussions are completely false and disturbing to hear. Attend the fall workshops and find out for yourself.
