Aug. 14 – Police pulled over a gold-colored sedan after the driver failed to use a turn signal on state Route 82 near Avery Road. The officer said the driver and passenger looked as if they were trying to hide something and had learned the driver had a warrant for drug charges. A K-9 search located a glass pipe and a small bag of what appeared to be methamphetamine. The driver was cited on charges of drug paraphernalia possession, not wearing his seatbelt, driving an unsafe vehicle and failure to use turn signals.

Aug. 15 – A Broadview Road business reported that a customer used an alias and fake credit cards to order food on two separate occasions. The orders totaled more than $90. Police used camera footage to identify the suspect who was found to have been arrested in Twinsburg in July on similar charges after ordering more than $180 in food from another establishment.

Aug. 17 – Police were dispatched to a Hidden Hollow Trail residence after receiving a complaint of an unwanted guest. The complainant told officers she had a protection order against her soon-to-be ex-husband who was at the property and refused to leave. Police discovered the protection order was no longer valid, and they were unable to legally remove the man from the property.

Aug. 18 – Police responded to a W. Mill Road residence after it was reported that multiple vehicles parked in the driveway had been damaged. Officers discovered two vehicles were covered with a variety of consumer goods, including flour, eggs, ranch dressing, protein shakes and toilet paper. The drivers of both vehicles were high school students.

Aug. 19 – A resident reported receiving a call from her bank stating that a female was attempting to cash a $1,000 check on her account. The complainant told the teller she had not written a check for that amount and did not know anyone by that name. The suspect left the bank while the teller was on the phone. The woman also told police that two days prior, she received an $11,000 transfer to her account from an unknown equity line of credit. The case is under investigation.

Aug. 21 – An employee who oversees a vacant building on Broadview Road said that when he left the building Aug. 12, everything was intact, but he was notified of an alarm a week later which he was unable to respond to immediately. When he did, he saw that the building was no longer secure, and a large toolbox and an oscilloscope valued at $2,500 were missing. He also reported there was new graffiti around the interior of the building. There are no suspects.

Sept. 1 – A driver was cited on charges of speed and reckless operation of a motor vehicle after he was pulled over for driving in excess of 120 mph in a 60-mph zone on Interstate 77 near the state Route 82 interchange. The driver told police his accelerator was stuck. Police, however, said the man was able to exit the highway without striking the guardrail. Once off the highway, police said the suspect was also unable to negotiate the turn onto Oxford Drive and drove over the sidewalk, treelawn and curb. The driver was cited and released.

Sept. 4 – A city resident reported theft of mail. The complainant said he receives a monthly delivery of lidocaine and ketamine through UPS. The package that was delivered to his home that month, which was verified by a photo taken by the delivery driver, allegedly had been stolen from his front porch while he was in the backyard.
