Jessica Boytim has been appointed the new assistant principal of Highland Middle School by the Highland Board of Education.

Boytim brings over 11 years of teaching and seven years of administrative experience to the Highland Local Schools. She most recently served as principal of Strongsville Middle School, previously serving as assistant principal at Brunswick Middle School and associate principal at Clagget Middle School in Medina.

“Jessica brings a wealth of experience with her to Highland, both administratively and in the classroom,” said Highland Superintendent Catherine Aukerman. “The students, staff and community will be well-served by her energy to move the middle school forward and her dedication to understanding and empowering our learners.”

Boytim said she is “thrilled” to continue her journey at Highland working with the students and being part of an administrative team that is committed to educational excellence.

“For nearly two decades, it has been a privilege to be part of the educational system, contributing to the growth and development of young minds,” said Boytim.

Boytim received her undergraduate degree in English and education from John Carroll University. She earned a graduate degree in administrative leadership from the University of Akron.

In other board business, Theresa Wright, director of the Highland Foundation, addressed the Highland Foundation’s upcoming 20th Great Gifts Dinner. This year’s theme is ‘Platinum Edition’ in honor of the organization’s 20th year. The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 6-11 p.m., at Weymouth Country Club in Medina.

Board member Robert Kelly said the Highland Foundation dinner “is the biggest event of the year.”

“I assure you if you’ve never attended, you won’t be disappointed when you do attend,” he said.
