Trick-or-Treat! The Hinckley Police Association and the Hinckley Holiday Market are co-hosting the township’s first drive-in movie night at Our Lady of Grace following the community trick or treat, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26.
The movie, “Monsters Inc.,” will begin between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., once it is dark. This is a free event to express the township’s appreciation for the community.
Hinckley Police Association has purchased a transmitter, so guests will be able to listen to the movie from the warmth of their cars.
The Hinckley Firefighter Association has been gifted a $1,500 donation from Columbia Gas as token of thanks for the community’s patience during the year-long gas line project. In addition to this donation, Columbia Gas will also donate $5,000 to a nonprofit of the board of trustees’ choosing. Trustees will select a 501(c)(3) in October.
The new single-hauler trash bid should be sent out later this month to determine which company the township will move forward with in February when the current Kimble contract expires. The decision to remain single-hauler came after sending out surveys to all residents in the fall of 2024, as part of which more than 75% respondents indicated they wanted to continue with a single hauler.
Chief Jestin Grossenbaugh has resigned in order to pursue a wonderful new opportunity. We wish him well and thank him for his service to our community. This opening has created a new discussion as to the structure of our Fire Department.
Discussions are now underway regarding the hiring of a full-time chief and the possibility of hiring an additional three full-time firefighters, changing the township’s volunteer department to a hybrid model. In the hybrid model, half of the department’s staff would work part time while the other half would be full time. This would resolve the ongoing issue of staffing the department with three-person shifts. More information will be released on this topic in the coming months.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone to celebrate Halloween. Can you guess what we will be dressed as this year?
