Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad announces retirement and new CEO

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Board of Trustees appointed Larry Stevenson as the new president/CEO, effective Sept. 3, according to a press release. He succeeds Joe Mazur, a former Richfield resident, who is retiring after seven years of service.

Stevenson joins CVSR with a background in rail management and executive leadership. Most recently, he served as CEO of the Island Corridor Foundation, a nonprofit in Vancouver, Canada. In this role, Stevenson was responsible for the strategy, planning and day-to-day management of a 180-mile rail corridor.

His experience in fostering strong relationships with stakeholder groups including community partners, volunteers and government agencies aligns with CVSR’s mission to provide educational, recreational and heritage railroad experiences, the release said. ∞
