Highland Local Schools earn top rating on state report card
The Ohio Department of Education released the 2024 Ohio School Report Cards for school districts in the state of Ohio Sept. 13, analyzing school district performance in six areas: Achievement, Progress, Early Literacy, Gap Closing, Graduation, and College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness (this component is not rated until 2025).
School districts and schools receive a 1-5 “Star” rating, in half-star increments, based on performance and the Highland Local School District, once again, earned an overall rating of “5 Stars” – the highest rating a school district can receive.
“We are extremely proud to earn the overall 5-Star rating again this year,” said Superintendent Catherine Aukerman. “While the report cards are not the only measure of success or accomplishments of a district, it is an important statewide benchmark and provides valuable data that we use to continue raising student achievement and preparing all students for their futures. I want to commend our students and staff for their sustained focus and commitment to learning. We are also thankful to have a supportive parent base and community that recognizes and values the importance of a high-quality education.”
But the commendation doesn’t stop there, Aukerman said. In addition, out of 3,173 individual schools that receive a Performance Index calculation, Hinckley Elementary ranks sixth overall in the state of Ohio. ∞
