Hinckley Township’s bicentennial celebration promises fun for all ages
by Chris Studor
Mark your calendars for Saturday, July 19, 2025, as Hinckley Township will celebrate its 200th birthday with an all-day bicentennial celebration.
The festivities will kick off with a parade through the center of town, setting the tone for a memorable day of activities that cater to all ages and interests.
The township’s bicentennial committee has put together an exciting lineup of events, including live entertainment, food, free ice cream, games and a coloring contest. There will also be an Irish Pub for those looking to relax with a beverage or two.
Additionally, the Explore Hinckley Passport Contest will offer guests the chance to discover hidden gems around the township, with more exciting activities to be announced.
“Our goal is to make Hinckley’s 200th birthday truly special,” said Bicentennial Committee Chairperson Dave Manley. “The parade will start the day off right, and we’ll wrap things up with a fireworks display. In between, there will be plenty to see and do, from food stalls to games, and everything in between.”
After the parade, guests are invited to enjoy a stroll through the township’s downtown area, where several food vendors and activity stations will be set up for business.
The Hinckley Car Club plans to host a classic car show at the Brooklyn Exchange Cabin, where light refreshments will be provided by the Hinckley Women’s Club.
Organizers are also planning a special dedication ceremony to commemorate the installation of a new post clock in the heart of the township. The clock will stand in the new Bicentennial Plaza, which will feature customizable, laser-engraved pavers. These pavers will be available for purchase by the public at prices ranging from $100 to $500 and are intended to offer residents and other guests a unique opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the community for years to come.
Additional details about the pavers are expected be shared this fall.
To commemorate the township’s 200-year milestone, the Bicentennial Committee will also be offering a limited-edition, stained-glass panel featuring the bicentennial logo. Measuring 6-feet by 8-feet, the panel showcases a buzzard soaring over pine trees and Bronger’s Cabin.
The logo, designed by Hinckley resident Mark Staron II, was brought to life by local artisan Jim Ascherl of Ascherl Studios. This keepsake is sure to become a treasured memento for years to come
Order forms for the stained-glass panel can be found in this edition of the Hinckley Record.
Proceeds from both the pavers and the stained-glass panels will directly support the Bicentennial Celebration, with the nonprofit Hinckley Historical Society overseeing the fundraising efforts.
In the months leading up to the celebration, additional details will be shared with the public.
