Mayor’s Corner by Mayor Michael Wheeler

It’s October and Halloween is just around the corner.  Our Thursday, October 31, the Halloween Parade will gather on the Village Green, near the pavilion, at 5:30 p.m. and step off at exactly 5:45 p.m. We will walk to the fire station for lots of goodies and fun. Trick-or-Treating in the neighborhoods will be from 6-8 p.m.

Please welcome Sean Van Niel to the position of part-time fire medic in the Richfield Fire Department.

I like to give people credit for doing things above and beyond for Richfield. I would like to thank Richfield resident and state representative Bill Roemer who is also the chair of the Ohio House Ways and Means Committee. In the last two Capital Budget cycles, Bill has obtained grants for the Oviatt House, which received $150,000 related to expenses and roof repairs, while RJRD received $290,000 to defray the costs associated with dam repair and provide enhancements to the Buckeye Trail.

We should be playing tennis and pickleball by October 7!

Branch pick-up will stop on October 15 unless we have a weather event and additional need. Leaf pick-up will start this month so get leaves out to the street so we can pick them up.

Please check out our website at richfieldvillageohio.org for up-to-date information regarding the different meetings, programs and projects underway in the village.
