Levies for schools, water management on November ballot

by Laura Bednar

Two levies on the November ballot will affect Sagamore Hills residents.

Issue 30 is a 5-mill levy for the Nordonia Hills City School District. The purpose of the levy is to provide money for operations and permanent improvements. Of the 5 mills, four would go toward operating expenses and one toward permanent improvements.

Taxpayers in the school district would pay $175 for each $100,000 of county-appraised property value. The first collections would be in 2025; the Summit County Fiscal Office estimates the levy would collect $7.35 million annually.

Issue 39 is a renewal and decreases an existing levy for the North Hills Water District by .05 mills, from .5 mills to .45 mills. Taxpayers would pay $16 for each $100,000 of appraised property value. The levy would collect $310,000 annually and be in place for 10 years with first collections in 2026.

The North Hills Water District operates in Northfield Center and Sagamore Hills townships and manages water lines and fire hydrants. ∞
