Students in the news
NRHS senior Eshaan Satyawada has been awarded the Rensselaer Medal and a substantial scholarship from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
This honor recognizes Satyawada’s noteworthy performance in mathematics and science, solidifying his position among the nation’s top STEM students.
The Rensselaer Medal comes with a merit scholarship valued at $40,000 per year, guaranteed for four years, totaling $160,000 towards Satyawada’s college education.
“The Rensselaer Medal honors students for their hard work, drive, focus, and collaborations,” said Karen Long, director of undergraduate admissions at RPI. “The winners represent the next generation of leaders, scientists, innovators, artists, scholars, game designers, architects, humanitarians and entrepreneurs.”
NRHS Principal Kristin Hubbell expressed pride in Satyawada’s accomplishments
“We are so proud of Eshaan,” she said. “His dedication to his studies, specifically in math and science has shown that there is no limit to what you can do when you are focused and driven.”
North Royalton Middle School celebrated the achievements of its top students during this fall’s annual Honor Society Induction Ceremony. The event recognized students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, extracurricular involvement and community service throughout their middle school years.
To be considered for the honor, students must have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during their fifth- and sixth-grade years, as well as the first three quarters of their seventh-grade year. Additionally, candidates were required to exemplify the “BEAR Way” – a set of values that emphasize doing what’s right, giving one’s best effort, and treating others with respect.
Principal Erin Calabrese expressed pride in the inductees, stating, “These students represent North Royalton Middle School and their families each day. Their dedication to academic excellence, coupled with their commitment to our ‘BEAR Way’ values, sets a remarkable example for their peers. We are confident that these young leaders will continue to make significant contributions to our school and community as they progress in their educational journey.”

Wade Dumm, current NHS vice president, introduced NRHS Teacher Mike Hemery who gave the keynote address. He spoke to the audience about what it takes to be inducted into NHS, and how that life, which isn’t easy at all, is far better than the road of apathy.
