The City Manager’s Desk – Thomas Sheridan

As we reflect on 2024, we’re filled with gratitude for our wonderful community. Hudson truly shines during the holidays, with festive lights, charming decorations and a vibrant downtown. We invite you to explore our City Events Calendar at hudson.oh.us/Events for a full lineup of holiday cheer, including our popular Nov. 29 Holiday Lighting and the Dec. 7 Winter Fireworks, presented in partnership with the Hudson Community Foundation.

This year, we celebrated the completion of our 10-Year Comprehensive Plan, a roadmap for Hudson’s future, shaped by your input and vision over the past two years. We’re excited to work toward implementing these goals and initiatives, which includes revitalizing our downtown and transforming the former Youth Development Center on Hines Hill Road.

We’ve made significant strides in infrastructure improvements this past year, including new sidewalks on SR 303 and Middleton Road, upgrades to our water and electrical systems, and extensive road resurfacing. We’ve also introduced a new leaf pickup app that tracks our leaf trucks, and this winter, we will offer real-time snowplow tracking.

The design of a new public works facility is underway, and we’re conducting a comprehensive study of our fire and EMS departments, which is scheduled for completion in early 2025.

While we faced challenges, such as the August major storm event, we’re proud of our resilience and commitment to improving our stormwater system. Over $30 million has been spent improving the storm system since 2003, and we are planning to spend an additional $17 million from 2025 -2029. Looking ahead, we’re excited about the opportunities to strengthen our community that will make Hudson an even better place to live, work and play. We hope to unveil a new Fiber to the Home initiative in the coming year and add more special events to help businesses grow in Hudson. On behalf of the city of Hudson staff, I want to wish you a joyous holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
