Trustees corner

What a year of change we have had. In January, we welcomed our newest board member, Cindy Engleman, and last month we said farewell to Martha Catherwood. She was the longest-serving member on our team and she will be greatly missed. We welcome newly appointed Fiscal Officer Jennifer Johnson as she begins her term on Dec. 1.

Hopefully you all received your Hinckley Township newsletter last month. The goal of this board is to send a mailed newsletter annually to ensure everyone is informed regarding important township business. If you sign up through the QR code on the newsletter or on our website for the electronic copy, you will be emailed a quarterly newsletter in addition to the regular hard copy. This is an added layer of transparency to keep you all informed if you cannot attend meetings or view them on YouTube.

We are now accepting applications for zoning commission members and Board of Zoning Appeals members until Dec. 6. If you have any questions regarding these positions, please reach out to Cindy Engleman at cengleman@hinckleytwp.org  or visit hinckleytwp.org. You can submit your letter of interest to admin@hinckleytwp.org .

Opt-out letters have been mailed for anyone wishing to opt out of trash collection for 2025. They are due by Dec. 6, at noon. We increased the 5% opt-out to 15% this year. This will ensure that those who do not need trash service will not be billed for it. This contract was bid out after the trash surveys sent last fall revealed that 71% wished to remain single hauler. Hinckley Township will be awarding a new contract on Dec. 3. More information and details are to come on this.

Jack, Monique and Cindy wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season. ∞
