Mayors Column January 2025

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone has had a safe and sane holiday season.  We look forward to 2025.

Please welcome Daniel Eifel, Matthew Fleshman and Brian McClellan as our newest fire medics.

As a reminder, weather permitting, we are picking up Christmas trees through the first week of January.

In 2024 we repaired, replaced and authorized new infrastructure.  We spent less than we took in and funded capital accounts for future replacement and repairs. Throughout the year, we worked to keep everyone safe and healthy.

We did this as a team. I want to humbly thank everyone who made the accomplishments of 2024 possible. I am, and we are, so blessed to have such an outstanding council, department heads, safety forces, services and administration. Kudos to all of the folks who served on our boards and commissions.

Please be careful and do not speed when traveling through the I-77 construction zones.  The lane shifts are narrow and the number of accidents has been above normal.  According to ODOT, the construction zones will be with us until June 2026.

We replaced the streetlight posts at the intersection of Brecksville Road and Route 303. The stoplight still needs parts, which have been on back order for almost a year.

Through Dec. 15, looking only at the general fund, 99.9% of the revenues have been collected and 90.6% of the budget was expended. If you have questions, concerns or comments, please contact me, or my executive assistant, at 330-659-9201, ext. 234, or email me at mwheeler@richfieldvillageohio.org.
