Township Corner by Trustee Janet Jankura
Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holidays with loved ones. I am looking forward to an exciting year with new initiatives and people involved in the township. We are pleased to promote Don Rentz as service department foreman, after 18 years of progressive responsibilities in our service department. He leads the team that continues to take great care of our roads and township property.
The new Comprehensive Land Use Planning Commission of 11 residents kicks off early in the year, reviewing and updating our current comprehensive plan. It will be facilitated by expert consultants and provide opportunities for public input. It will be encouraging to recreate the long-range plan for our community.
The township finished 2024 year strong. We have $2.3 million in the bank. We earned thousands of dollars in interest. The team secured $176,400 in Ohio Public Works small government grants. Our revenues have increased with higher commercial property and income taxes from the Joint Economic Development District. On a personal note, my family got a new collie puppy who is keeping us busy hiking in the woods, cleaning up after him, preventing him from chewing everything in sight and causing us to play again. I wish that you also find some renewed joy, health and peace in 2025.
