The new year brings a fresh start to many things for the township.  2025 will bring about a new single-hauler trash service provider, Rumpke, along with a new comprehensive plan, and a time for celebration as we prepare for Hinckley Township’s Bicentennial, which will take place later this year.

The current Kimble waste-hauling contract, established in 2019, will expire on Jan. 31.  The board has selected Rumpke to be the township’s new single hauler. We will enter into a new five-year contract on Feb. 1.  Rumpke will begin to distribute new carts the week of Jan. 27, however residents are reminded not to use the new trash carts to dispose of trash at the curb until Feb. 1.  

Kimble will make its last pickup on Friday, Jan. 31, after which residents are reminded to no longer use the Kimble trash carts. Kimble will begin picking up residents’ carts the week of Feb. 2.  Kimble asks residents to leave their empty carts at the end of their driveways.

Trash collection day will not change. Like Kimble, Rumpke will pick up trash and recycling on Fridays, beginning at 7 a.m.  Rumpke will be mailing out information regarding their services and frequently asked questions the first week of January.  Hinckley residents have the option of using 65-gallon or 95-gallon recycle carts at no additional charge.  Residents can select their size preference by visiting hinckleytwp.org.

It has been 10 years since the township’s comprehensive plan was last updated.  Trustees will begin the process of updating the plan this year. The comprehensive plan is a guide that trustees and the township’s zoning officials use to develop plans for the future of our township. Our beloved township turns the big 200 this year!  We will celebrate together on Saturday, July 19. Contact the Hinckley Historical Society for volunteer opportunities.
