Superintendent’s Corner

As we move into February, I’m excited to share some important events and updates across the Nordonia Hills City School District.

Nordonia High School

Nordonia High School continues to showcase the incredible talent of our students. Our Mock Trial team earned 2nd place in the Summit County competition and advanced to the next round on Feb. 7. Spirit Week featured a Lip Sync event – a popular tradition that brings our school together in celebration and fun. Our students are actively participating in service projects in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, reflecting the values of kindness and community at Nordonia High’s heart.

Nordonia Middle School

At Nordonia Middle School, preparations were underway for the seventh-grade parent orientation on Feb. 4. This event gave families an overview of what to expect as their children enter middle school. In addition, we’ve been working on creating a schedule that maximizes instructional time while balancing financial considerations.

Lee Eaton Intermediate School

Lee Eaton students are continuing to thrive with academic boosters and intramurals, offering a fun way for students to engage outside of the classroom. Our student leadership group, the Knights of the Round Table, is working on projects to improve school culture, including promoting respect for the school and fostering a love of learning. These student-led initiatives are a great example of leadership and community building at Lee Eaton.

Rushwood Elementary

Rushwood Elementary students participated in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ cheer tunnel – a memorable experience that allowed our students to be part of a special community event. Our kindergarten teachers are conducting dyslexia screenings for all students to ensure every child has the support they need to succeed academically.

Ledgeview Elementary

Ledgeview Elementary kicked off its “Penny Wars” competition to raise funds for the Sub Zero Mission, which helps homeless veterans. This project has generated excitement among students and staff, and they’re on track to meet their fundraising goal. It’s an amazing example of how our students are learning the importance of service and giving back to those in need.Thank you to our families and community for your continued support. Together, we are building a strong, connected district where our students can thrive both academically and personally.
