Buzzard Day is March 16 this year

Are you craving the famous Buzzard Day sausage and pancakes? If so, there’s a good chance you’ll be in good company March 16, as residents and guests alike will descend upon Hinckley Township that morning for the annual Buzzard Day celebration.

The festivities kick off at 7 a.m. at the former Hinckley Elementary School, 1410 Ridge Rd., with the annual Buzzard Day breakfast. Service of hotcakes and sausage will run through approximately 2 p.m. in the main cafeteria with an overflow room nearby. Cost for the breakfast is $15 for adults and $10 for kids under 10 years old.

You do not need to attend the breakfast to enjoy the many other activities designed for guests of all ages inside the building, including crafts, games, vendors, educational information provided by community organizations and more.

The annual Buzzard Day event is sponsored by the Hinckley Chamber of Commerce. Chamber President Mark Staron said there will be additional arts and crafts, as well as local businesses giveaways this year since more classroom space inside the school will be open to the public.

“This year there will be some fundraisers to help with the cost of the Hinckley bicentennial, sponsored by the Hinckley Historical Society and the Chamber,” said Staron. “Proceeds from both the 50-50 raffle and basket raffle will go towards helping the bicentennial efforts.”Staron said chamber members are putting the final details together and a complete list of activities and offerings is available in this issue of The Hinckley Record.
