‘Can’t miss’ home and garden shows

Home and garden events are a great place to find inspiration, identify the ideal plant for your garden and/or admire to-die-for home décor. Members of the Emerald Necklace Garden Club compiled this list of “can’s miss” home and garden tours for those seeking beauty, knowledge, and community within the realm of horticulture and interior design.

HISTORIC HOMES TOUR: PARKLAND PROXIMITY – Cleveland

When: April 6, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cost: $160 per person; $125 for Nature Center or Shaker Historical Society members

Learn the history of the area during a brunch and presentation, then take a trolley tour of four stunning and unique homes on West Park, South Park and Shaker Boulevards. Each stop is rich with history that will be shared throughout the tour.

WOOF WALKS AT STAN HYWET HALL & GARDENS – Akron 

When: Beginning April 6 and following Sundays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Cost: $15 per human ($7 ages 3 to 17); $5 per dog; Stan Hywet members and dogs are free

Enjoy the beautiful gardens and grounds with your dog. Dogs must be leashed, and owners must pick-up after their dogs.

WOLCOTT LILAC 
GARDENS – Kent

When: May 3 and May 10, 10 a.m.-5 pm.; May 4 and May 22, 12-5 p.m. 

Cost: $4 donation

Self-guided tour to view more than 250 lilacs, spring bulbs, roses, garden phlox and peonies plus flowering trees, a gazebo and koi pond. Given Mother Nature’s capricious nature this year, check the website or Facebook page for updates on tour dates.

HUDSON HOME 
& GARDEN TOUR

When: June 13, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and June 14, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Cost: $35 presale; $45 day of show

Since 1947, the Hudson Garden Club has showcased beautiful homes, lovely gardens and unique outdoor living spaces. Enjoy a day touring the featured properties in historic Hudson. Pick up the tour program with map and property previews at East Woods School, 120 N. Hayden Pkwy, where you can also visit the garden shop and enjoy refreshments.

SUMMIT COUNTY MASTER 
GARDENERS 2025 TOUR OF 
GARDENS 

When: June 21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. 

Cost: $30, includes  self-guided tours of six gardens and exclusive access to the Posie Shoppe plant sale of MG-grown plants; $150 Platinum or $120 Gold Patron, includes catered breakfast in secret garden plus first choice of Posie Shoppe plants

Self-directed tours through six private gardens with an option to include a virtual tour. More 2025 tour details and tickets available after May 1.

BATH TOUR 
OF DISTINCTIVE HOMES 

When: Virtual tour, June 1 – 12, pre-taped and narrated

Cost: Ticket prices start at $40

Tour six homes, some with gardens, at your convenience, or join the Watch Party on June 7, at Bath United Church of Christ, 3980 W. Bath Rd, Akron, 10-11 a.m. to view tour on a screen while enjoying a luncheon.

GARDEN WALK CLEVELAND

When: july 12 and 13.

Cost: Free, self-guided tour

The 2025 locations are Broadway/Slavic Village, Clifton/Baltic, Collinwood, Detroit Shoreway and Fairfax. Meet homeowners and share gardening experiences; some have plant giveaways. Maps available at neighborhood locations, and yard signs identify gardens to explore.

BOAT TOUR OF HOMES 
ON PORTAGE LAKES

When: July 16, 8:30 a.m.-noon 

Cost: $60 Sailor Ticket, tour up to five homes and enjoy a box lunch on board the pontoon; $130 VIP Commodore Ticket, fist to launch and enjoy home tours plus a catered lunch at a tudor home.
