March 10 township trustees meeting

Sagamore Hills trustees approved two pieces of legislation related to township roadwork. The first is the township’s participation in the Summit County regional concrete pavement repair program. The county engineer will bid out the $101,800 contract for township roadwork to an outside vendor.

The second is Sagamore’s annual participation in the Summit County Engineer’s regional resurfacing and pavement marking program, for an amount not to exceed $1.1 million.

Trustee Paul Schweikert also reported that the township road department would start crack sealing in April and May.

Trustees issued a certificate affirming compliance with the tax increment financing agreement with Grey Fox Capital, the builder for the Parkview Villas homes on state Route 82 and Carter Road.

Tax increment financing is a public financing tool used to finance local infrastructure projects. Township attorney Jeff Snell said the TIF will close on March 20 and will generate just under $1.7 million for roadwork in the Parkview area including Carter Road.

Trustee David DePasquale said trustee John Zaccardelli and Fiscal Officer Laura Steimle met with Doug Wade from Government Window to discuss adding e-commerce to the township’s website for residents to pay permits and rental fees online.

Steimle said adding e-commerce will not cost the township anything, but residents who pay with a credit card will see a 3.5% surcharge. Computers in the township offices will soon have a card swipe installed for walk-ins to pay for permits with a card instead of a check.

DePasquale noted some of the larger purchases Sagamore made, including $20,878 for ambulance repairs and the upfitting of two police cruisers for $41,654.The 2025 township annual appropriations were approved, totaling $10.1 million.
