Hinckley resident Melissa Augustine was sworn in as the new Republican member of the Medina County Board of Elections on Feb. 28.
An official swearing-in ceremony was held at Ridge and Rail with Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose conducting the ceremony.
“I am very grateful to have been selected and would like to thank the executive committee for their confidence in me,” said Augustine. “I look forward to working with the team at the Board of Elections and also want to thank Nancy Abbot, who formally served in this position, as well as my friends and family.”
Augustine will serve a four-year term and immediately began attending meetings of the board.
Melissa was elected to the Republican Central Committee of Medina County last March. She was chosen to serve as the executive director of the Republican Party of Medina County in February, at the same time the Executive Committee appointed her a member of the Board of Elections. “I look forward to working closely with the Republican Party Chairman Jim Renacci,” Augustine said. “It is a pivotal moment in politics, and as our party has emerged as a champion of the people, it is crucial that we not only maintain this momentum but build upon it as well.”
