Spring is in the air, and that means one thing – it’s time to kick off Hudson’s spectacular event season! From exciting family-friendly events to dazzling fireworks displays, there’s so much to look forward to in the coming months.
First up, don’t miss our Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Gazebo and Clocktower greens. This year’s event is packed with exciting activities for all ages. Explore the Electric Vehicle Show, watch a live electric power demonstration, bring your old electronics for recycling or securely dispose of personal documents with our shredding service. Kids will love the fun-filled activities, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Plan your visit and check out the full event schedule at hudson.oh.us/earthday.
Next, gather with friends, family and neighbors to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country during the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m. This cherished tradition brings our community together in a meaningful way. If your group or organization would like to participate in this year’s parade, register at hudson.oh.us/memorialday.
At the end of the Memorial Day Parade, the Military and Veterans Commission holds a special ceremony to honor our fallen veterans. This year, plans are underway for a new WWI Memorial. At the Military and Veterans Commission’s request, the city removed the deteriorated WWI monument and is installing new stone along with the restored brass cannon, bald eagle and large plaque. Be sure to stop and see the new WWI Memorial in front of the Boy Scout Cabin.
And of course – the highlight of summer – Hudson’s Fourth of July Fireworks are set to light up the sky on Saturday, July 5, at Barlow Farm Park, with a rain date of Sunday, July 6. Year after year, thousands of residents and visitors flock to see Hudson’s own American Fireworks deliver an unforgettable, sky-splitting display of color and light. Bring your family, grab some delicious bites from local food vendors and enjoy a night filled with community spirit. This incredible event is proudly presented by the Hudson Community Foundation, and parking and admission are free, so don’t miss it! Visit hudson.oh.us/fireworks for details about the event.
As the weather warms up, you may also notice the return of orange barrels around town – a sure sign that construction season is here. We have several major road construction, stormwater and infrastructure projects lined up for the year to keep our city moving forward. Stay informed and track project progress with our Construction Story Map at hudson.oh.us/construction. This interactive map makes it easy to see what’s happening around town. Be sure to mark your calendars, gather your friends and family and get ready for an action-packed season in Hudson! Check out all our events at hudson.oh.us/events.
