Mayor’s Corner
Spring is here and so is tax time. As a reminder, individual municipal income tax filings are due Monday, April 15. Your estimated income tax and/or request for a time extension is also due April 15.
As we enter tax season, several related scams are reported to the police department every year. Fraudsters use everyone’s fear of the IRS to commit these scams. Many of these scams involve suspects posing as IRS agents who are threatening arrest. The IRS will never randomly call anyone. They will send a letter, or several letters, indicating there is a problem. Also, they will never demand payment via gift cards.
Report any suspicious activity to the police department and do not hesitate to contact us with questions. As always, please watch out for the vulnerable population as they are typically targeted.
The pickleball and tennis courts are open for the season. The Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday, April 19, from 11 – 11:05 a.m. Don’t be late.
Community Project Pride Day and Arbor Day is Saturday, April 26. Take pride in Richfield; adopt a street or neighborhood and pitch in to help clean up the roadways. Paper shredding, recycling of electronics and old clothing will be available from 9 a.m. – noon behind Village Hall. Once again, we are giving out tree saplings (various varieties) at the Village Hall pavilion. Safe drug disposal will be available, allowing residents to turn in unused or expired medications to the police department. If you have question, concerns or comments, please contact me, or my executive assistant at 330-659-9201, ext. 234, or email me at mwheeler@richfieldvillageohio.org.
