Hinckley’s 2015 Comprehensive Plan is due for an update this year. The plan serves as a guidebook for future growth and development, prioritizing what Hinckley’s residents feel is important for the township’s future.

A comprehensive plan review committee is now being formed to analyze the current plan, perform community outreach, develop a resident survey and finalize the information. In addition to five zoning commission members, eight residents will be invited to be part of the committee.

This is an all-volunteer committee and applications for those interested can be found on the township’s website, hinckleytwp.org.

On April 29, the Hinckley Metroparks will present a public information session on “Ways to Protect Natural Resources for Private Property Owners.” The meeting will take place at 6 p.m,. at Hinckley Town Hall.

This year, the trustees are introducing a military banner program to honor Hinckley’s veterans. These banners will be placed in the center of town to create a walkable experience so residents may view up close those being honored. Banners honoring those killed in action will be displayed in Veteran’s Memorial Park.

This is a pilot program and will be free to those who participate due to the generous donation of a community member. Applications and additional details can be found on the township website. Space is limited.
