Northcoast Hardwood Flooring settles into new location

Northcoast Hardwood Flooring and Supplies on Dec. 1 moved into its new home, a renovated century house located at 3659 Brecksville Rd. It sits near new buildings constructed by Jim Winar of J Team Management.

“We worked together building this building,” said Northcoast Hardwood owner Joel Weisel. “We put our heads together to set something up that fit our needs.”

For Northcoast Hardwood the result was a larger building in a more highly trafficked area that boasted the same rustic charm as the products inside.

According to Weisel, Northcoast Hardwood has been in business for more than 30 years. For eight years before the move, the wood flooring supplier was operating out of a smaller facility on Snowville Road in Brecksville, and before that it was located in Independence.

All that time, Northcoast Hardwood has been providing contractors and retailers with everything they need to complete a hardwood flooring job. Weisel sources much of his product selection from the U.S. and strives to deliver exceptional quality and service.

“It’s a one stop shop for wood related products and flooring,” Weisel said. “We know these products inside and out.”

That includes refinishing, maintenance and cleaning products.

“I personally have been in the business for 12 years,” said Weisel. “Before that I was into a little bit of everything.”

Weisel took the reins at Northcoast Hardwood after racking up years of construction experience while growing up and working on a farm. Although he has experience in many aspects of construction, his passion is wood products.

“Wood intrigues me,” said Weisel. “I like working with wood products.”

And with this new location, Weisel is able to bring new wood products and services to his customers.

“We’re actually doing a little bit of reclaimed wood furniture,” he said. “I’ve been doing that as a hobby, but being here in this new location, we’re looking to diversify. You never know what you’re going to find when you walk in.”

In addition to reclaimed wood furniture and décor, the new space features service machines for contractors as well as room for factory representatives to do product demos, so homeowners can stop in and see exactly how a product will look in their homes.

“We’re offering a lot of service here that you can’t get from online shopping,” Weisel said.

With double the square footage of his last location, Weisel is putting the finishing touches on a new showroom, which will include samples of all of the products he sells. He plans to have the showroom finished by spring.

Weisel also plans to put up a new exterior sign this spring, but it will bear a new name, inspired by the business’ new location.

He’s obtained a DBA, Carriage House Wood Products. Weisel believes the new name is a more accurate representation of the wide selection of wood products he offers and pays homage to the carriage house style building out of which he now operates.
