Hinckley Greeters to welcome new township residents
In an effort to make the transition to life in Hinckley Township a little easier for newcomers, the Hinckley Chamber of Commerce and the Hinckley Women’s Club have teamed up to form a new club, the Hinckley Greeters.
The Hinckley Greeters began delivering the first welcome kits to all new township residents on March 5 and will continue to provide the service on monthly basis.
Club president Debbie Moss explained that club members Patty LaFontaine and Debbie Moss, as well as Pat Nimon, of HiHO Vacations, provided the club’s first delivery. Using a list of new homeowner transfers provided by the Medina County Auditor’s office, they placed door hangers on all new residents’ mailboxes March 4 alerting them that a welcome kit would be delivered the following day.
On the day of delivery, members of the Hinckley Greeters gathered in Lafontaine’s kitchen to assemble the welcome kits, which featured empty pizza boxes donated by Foster’s Tavern, as well as a plastic sleeve of local business cards and membership information on the Chamber of Commerce and the Hinckley Women’s Club.
A few trinkets and a box of freshly baked cookies was also included with the deliveries
If residents are not home at the time of delivery, the welcome kit is left on their front porches. ∞
