Lacey Mencl, Independence High School class of 2012 married Mike Schoeb from North Ridgeville, Ohio, on Oct. 21 in the Cleveland City Hall Rotunda. They are both graduates of Kent State University. Mencl received her law degree from Cleveland State University and she currently works as legal counsel for The National Women’s Soccer League. Schoeb works in the corporate offices at United Airlines. The couple resides in Chicago, Illinois.

Jack Korinek, a senior on the Independence High School football team received an honorable mention by the 2023 Division VI All-Ohio Football Team.

Nolan Michaels, of Independence, graduated cum laude from Commonwealth University in May. While a student, he was named to the 2022-23 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete award list for maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA and playing on the men’s soccer team. ∞
