Township Corner by Trustee Don Laubacher

News

We met with Cody Beshire, Cleveland Metroparks’ new park manager for our Rising Valley Park. The park looks great, and he confirmed that a future connecting trail to Richfield Heritage Preserve is probable.

Construction should begin this fall on the Summit County fiber optic ring for better connectivity. In our township, it will go along only state and county roads. This phase is for public safety to ensure police and fire communication is available in case of catastrophic internet failure. The final phase will enhance residential connectivity.

The top concern I hear from residents is speeding on our roads. We work with Richfield police to do all we can and ask motorists to slow down, be safe, and be considerate.

While I appreciate the county mowing their roadsides one more time this summer, their decision to discontinue this long-held practice is regrettable. It is unsafe for residents to mow their roadsides and ditches!  Additionally, un-mowed roadsides look awful and the roads will deteriorate more quickly. I urge county officials to reconsider.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Richfield Heritage Preserve and the Oviatt House for receiving state capital grants of $150,000 and $100,000, respectively, for much-needed infrastructure projects. Thanks to State Rep. Bill Roemer for his assistance in directing these well-deserved awards.
