Victory Gallop welcomes children’s author
Victory Gallop, a personalized horseback-riding program that helps children with behavioral and/or emotional challenges and life-threatening illnesses, recently hosted an event featuring noted journalist and author Sarah Maslin Nir.
To celebrate the launch of her new children’s book “The Star Horse,” Nir visited Victory Gallop as the second stop on her “Barn to Barn” book tour. On Sept. 7, a group of riders and their parents were treated to a special reading by Nir and left with a signed keepsake copy of the book.
Nir is a both a prolific and accomplished writer, and a passionate equestrian. A Pulitzer Prize finalist, she is a journalist for The New York Times. She is the author of several equine-based books including, “Once Upon a Horse,” a series of books for middle grade readers inspired by real horses and the people who love them. Third in the series, “The Star Horse” is about the incredible adventures of Billy, the Norwegian Fjord horse, and his “person” Lori.
“We were thrilled to have Sarah visit with our riders,” said Kim Gustely, Victory Gallop co-founder and instructor. “The kids share her passion for horses. It was fun for everyone to talk about their experiences with their favorite horse. And ‘The Star Horse’ story is so relatable as Billy’s greatest adventure is when he joins a therapeutic riding program.” ∞
